Therapy typically last between 6 and 14 sessions (sometimes more, sometimes less) and usually progresses through the following three stages.

1. At the beginning of therapy, I work to build trust and understanding with every client. This trust serves as the foundation for our therapeutic relationship. We will then gather a history of the problem and develop an understanding of why the problem might have started and what acceptable solutions exist.

2. During the middle stage of therapy we will monitor progress, trouble-shoot obstacles, and reassess the treatment plan while highlighting the personal strengths and resources enabling you to continue moving toward your goal.

3. In the final stage of therapy we will reflect on the positive changes made throughout the course of therapy and will identify maintenance techniques to solidify the positive growth as long-term life changes.

I find this approach to be effective for couple, family, and individual therapy.
